The time of
year has come again
When friends go out for dinner,
And when the place you pick is right
We all feel like a winner.
At Wednesday noon we
gathered round
The tables laid with plenty,
For anyone who dared to count
We numbered more than twenty.
The Grecian food and drink flowed fast
The table talk was boisterous,
So we did munch and natter much
And stuffed the food inside us.
Then at last we felt quite full
From pasta herbs and spices,
And after coffee served with cream:
Two Dozen smiling Faces.
Oh! Alas! - back to work again
Where all we crave is to sleep,
But no siesta time today
Until home, into bed we can creep.
The day was good - the meal was fun
As the festive season started,
I hope December stays like this
’til this year has departed.
