I waited through the long, long months
When all the world looked grey
But patience finally paid off
The green Card came my way.
I surfed the internet by day
At jobsites far and near
But chasing jobs already gone
Can turn a man to beer.
A few
short weeks then I struck gold
Where greenbacks I could earn
And now I can feel good again
To work,
perhaps to learn.
For learning is the key these days
When few jobs come around
For if you keep one step ahead
A new job can be found.
Enjoying time that’s spent at work
In charge of Life once more
I look around and realize that
There’s much I’m thankful for.
I have good health and energy
To do the thinks I like
And now that money’s coming in
No longer must I hike.
The heavy price of gasoline
Is now well in the past
At last reclined inside my car
I can drive home so fast.
Though public transport may exist
To use it is not easy
And waiting for a bus or train
In winter makes one queasy.
So now with work that brings me pay
Life returns to normal
Once more I can R.S.V.P.
