Red are the flames of my burning desire When sweet thoughts of your love set my heart afire, Though you dwell far away in miles and hours My love will endure through the storms and showers. Orange is the glow of the setting sun As the night draws close and the day is done, The log fire it glows with an eerie light With strong oak doors barred 'gainst the frozen night. Yellow the sands of a faraway beach Where dreams have begun that we long to reach, The days stretch out as we go a'roaming 'cross desert and bush we go a'strolling. Green rolling valleys of our native home From whence we came with our dreams all alone Rest from your traveling 'cross the seas and land Rest now together sleeping hand in hand. Blue is my anguish when e're we're apart Time spent without you bleeds life from my heart, Enduring days of cold isolation Your smiling portrait, poor consolation. Indigo-bird so high in the zenith Sing to my darling of love I sendeth, Tell of my yearning far across the plain Steadfast devotion 'til we meet again. Violet hues from the hedgerows in splendor Pale by the light of your love so tender, No God or Demon will keep us apart Now you own the only key to my heart. Oh heavenly RAINBOW illusion grand Awful beauty displayed above the land, A burning love like ours, real, honest, true Brightens the days I’m far away from you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
